Deep in the southern continent, bordered by forests and mountains to the south, east and west as well as the Azov sea to the north, Artachtain Weyrhold was a haven for those few who managed to smuggle their way south to escape the plague that decimated the North and now a battleground like the rest of Pern as Thread comes around once more for the third pass.

After being more or less forgotten by the North after the plague, Artachtain and it's sister Weyrhold, Tanasay, have formed an alliance. And now, desperate for leaders with just a retired goldrider, Artachtain has been forced to appeal to the Northern Weyrs for help and they have sent it in the form of Angharad and her gold Tasarlath, who will become the new leaders of the Weyrhold. With a clutch soon to be on the sands and tempers, dissent and distrust raging high in the Weyrhold, how will they possibly stay together enough to fight Thread?

Welcome to Southern Alliance! In a time of turmoil, anger and damaged pride, it must be the pillar that keeps the Weyrs together, that works with the North to knock down the walls between the two. AIVAS has yet to be discovered and never will be. Lessa and F'lar won't be born for many more Turns and the characters from the earlier books are long dead.

And before we go any further, one very important fact needs to be brought up. Yes, we have two goldriders and yes, they are both controlled by the BoD. Why? Simply because Southern Alliance was created to play in AM's world, _not_ as an easy break for someone to earn a gold. At some point, they may be open for adoption, but if you want a gold in Southern Alliance, you will have to work for it and that's how it should be! And besides that, golds aren't that much fun to play! Yes, they're considered the treasure by many people and they require a lot of hard work and must be earned. But they're not the sole intersting persona it's possible to have! Hallmasters, Weyrlingmasters, Candidates, Holders and even Traders or Holdless can be just as much fun to play! And our goal in Southern Alliance, is to play all aspects of Pern, not just the Weyrs and especially not just the gold and bronzeriders.

Well, now that that's out of the way, SA is also very new but we _are_ officially approved(see our Letter of Approval here)! Boardies as well as members are needed before we can really begin play. Because of the club's newness, just about anything is open save goldriders and we'd love to have any type of personae from drudges to Lord Holders and everything in between! Again, welcome to Southern Alliance, feel free to look around, we'd love to have you join us! And if you have any questions, please email Kirit .
